Evidence for the Management of Bronchopulmonary Dysplasia in Very Preterm Infants

نویسندگان

چکیده

Background: Very preterm birth often results in the development of bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD) with an inverse correlation gestational age and birthweight. This very population is especially exposed to interventions, which affect BPD. Objective: The goal our review summarize evidence on these daily procedures provide evidence-based recommendations for management Methods: We conducted a systematic literature research using MEDLINE/PubMed antenatal corticosteroids, surfactant-replacement therapy, caffeine, ventilation strategies, postnatal inhaled nitric oxide, bronchodilators, macrolides, patent ductus arteriosus, fluid management, vitamin A, treatment pulmonary hypertension stem cell therapy. Results: Evidence provided by meta-analyses, reviews, randomized controlled trials (RCTs) large observational studies are summarized as narrative review. Discussion: There strong use combination noninvasive caffeine lung-protective strategies. A more differentiated approach has be applied corticosteroid treatment, arteriosus (PDA), fluid-intake supplementation, well BPD-associated hypertension. no routine bronchodilators prophylactic oxide. Stem therapy promising, but should used RCTs only.

Initial respiratory management in preterm infants and bronchopulmonary dysplasia

BACKGROUND Ventilator injury has been implicated in the pathogenesis of bronchopulmonary dysplasia. Avoiding invasive ventilation could reduce lung injury, and early respiratory management may affect pulmonary outcomes. OBJECTIVE To analyze the effect of initial respiratory support on survival without bronchopulmonary dysplasia at a gestational age of 36 weeks. DESIGN/METHODS A prospective ...

Could mean platelet volume predict developing of bronchopulmonary dysplasia in preterm infants with respiratory distress syndrome?

Introduction: some studies have suggested correlation between MPV index and inflammatory diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis in adults. Though bronchopulmonary dysplasia is also an inflammatory disease which develops in preterm neonates with Respiratory distress syndrome, we decided to study the possible correlation between the mean platelet volume (MPV) and the occurrence of bronchopulmonary...

Dexamethasone treatment in preterm infants at risk for bronchopulmonary dysplasia.

A randomised double blind placebo controlled study was conducted to determine whether a one week course of dexamethasone could reduce the severity of bronchopulmonary dysplasia in preterm infants without compromising their adrenal function. Forty one infants with a mean birth weight of 880 g and a gestational age of 27 weeks who were ventilator dependent at 10 days of age were enrolled. At the ...

Nutrition of preterm infants in relation to bronchopulmonary dysplasia

BACKGROUND The pathogenesis of bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD) is multifactorial. In addition to prenatal inflammation, postnatal malnutrition also affects lung development. METHODS A retrospective study was performed to analyse during the first two weeks of life the total, enteral and parenteral nutrition of premature infants (<31 weeks, birth weight ≤1500 g) born between 08/04 and 12/06. ...
